Overview

AXM is the open agent extension manager for coding agents and AI assistants.

Use AXM to:

  • Manage skills, rules (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, etc.), subagents, MCP server connections, and more — all from one tool.
  • Create and curate bundles of extensions (rules, skills, MCP servers, etc.) with extension packs to build re-usable skill systems, workflows, agent harness building blocks, and more.
  • Publish extensions to AgentXM.ai, the registry for agent extensions, for easy discovery, management, and sharing of agent extensions across projects, teams, and organizations.
  • Discover and distribute agent extensions for libraries, frameworks, and tools from any package ecosystem (npm, crates.io, Maven, NuGet, PyPI, RubyGems, etc.).

AXM is built on and for the open agent ecosystem. It builds on open standards such as the Agent Skills Specification, AGENTS.md, and the Model Context Protocol. AXM and AgentXM.ai provide a unified management interface and infrastructure across agents that support these standards, bridging gaps where possible, and providing complementary capabilities to make working with coding agents and AI assistants more productive and enjoyable.

  • Try it — install AXM and watch your agent use its first skill in two commands: Getting started.
